Your confidence is increasing a bit as you successfully solve more of the Gate Keeper’s puzzles. Therefore, you reach for the winter door with a little more certainty than you had in the previous rooms.

The dungeon door swings open with an eerie squeak of the rusty hinges. As you step through the door, the atmosphere completely changes. You exit the dark, spooky dungeon-style room to enter a room that resembles a fancy Las Vegas casino. The carpeted floor has a large Peacock logo with the title Hera’s Casino, undoubtedly a play on the famous Harrah’s Casino found on the Vegas Strip.

The room is equipped with many classic casino staples. There’s a felt-covered card table, a bar with a variety of deity-themed liquors and mixers, and a screen that is designed like a window and labeled “Fireworks Show.” In the back of the room, you notice four frosted glass, sliding doors, each with one of the four card suits emblazoned on it. To your left, in a plastic holder affixed to the wall, is a brochure. You pick it up and begin reading while you wait for the ubiquitous voice of your ‘gracious’ host.

TRANSCRIPT You continue to do quite well Detective. I am so pleased you are taking my lessons to heart. And yet you still have such a long way to go. But don’t let it demoralize you – you must remain stalwart to succeed. At least you can have a little fun in this room. Welcome to Hera’s Casino. Surprisingly, the Greek gods whole-heartedly embraced gambling rather than finding it morally reprehensible. Perhaps they found games of chance to be reminiscent of the vagaries of luck in the universe. This room is a little different from the prior three. You will be applying to be an employee of Hera’s and your challenge consists of learning and mastering jobs in the casino. Specifically, you will try to prove yourself worthy of being a bartender at Dionysus’ Cocktail Bar by learning to make their signature drinks. And you will also need to demonstrate your skill as a dealer for the card game Godly Sums. Never heard of Godly Sums?! It is only the most popular card game amongst the high-roller Olympians that play here at Hera’s. You will find information to guide you in learning both occupations, and if you excel these jobs, perhaps you will be rewarded with knowledge to propel you forward. But don’t worry; despite the hard work involved, you will also have time to enjoy the amenities of the resort.
